In the southern hemisphere, some people like to celebrate a "white Christmas" to coincide with the onset of winter. While snow may begin to fall on the Brindabellas and the Alps, here in Canberra, we're going green instead...
The Australian Information Industry Association invites members and guests to the June Standing Agenda, a cocktail networking event at which the keynote speakers will be Ms Kayelle Wiltshire, Branch Manager, Central Facilities, AGIMO and Mr Al Blake, Assistant Secretary and CIO of the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA).
Ms Wiltshire will speak about 'Green ICT Quick Wins' with Mr Blake speaking on the whole of Government ICT sustainability plan, developed by DEWHA in response to the Gershon recommendations.
Ms Wiltshire is the Branch Manager, Central Facilities in the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO), a business group within the Department of Finance and Deregulation. Her responsibilities include the Whole of Government, Data Centre Strategy, Green ICT, On-Line Business Continuity, Fedlink and the governance of the ICON service.
Ms Wiltshire has a Masters Degree in Informatics. She is passionate about improving business processes, information management and service delivery. Ms Wiltshire is a career Public Servant with a wide range of experience in policy development, financial management and programme delivery.
Mr Blake is the Acting Chief Information Officer for the Department of the Environment, Heritage, Water and the Arts (DEWHA). He has 20 years experience in delivering strategic ICT solutions to scientific, government and educational organisations in Australia and overseas.
Mr Blake spent two years in the Solomon Islands developing Pacific-wide communications for the Forum Fisheries Agency. This was followed by five years in New Caledonia where he led the IT programmes of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, supporting development projects in Pacific Island countries.
After a stint with CSIRO and managing a large educational network, Mr Blake joined DEWHA in 2005 with responsibility for identifying new technologies and setting the organisations strategic ICT direction. With the focus on Climate Change, he is instrumental in identifying practical mechanisms for minimising the impact of ICT.
Privately, he is a keen, though infrequent, cave diver.
Come and join us for a festive mid-year catch up and an update on AGIMO's work in the "green" space as part of the ICT Reform Program.
