India – Land of Opportunity for Victorian ICT Exporters

Any recent visitors to India would be impressed by the country’s dynamicism - it is a “high energy” country whose economy has powered on in spite of a challenging global economic environment. In India it’s a case of “GFC – what GFC!”

But how do Victorian companies identify these opportunities? The Department of Innovation, Industry & Regional Development has just completed a study that will assist you. Ray Nicol will be our feature guest speaker, and he will outline key elements and findings of this research, which was undertaken to identify opportunities for Victorian businesses to export their ICT products and services to India.
• To identify marketing and promotional opportunities, including the potential for partnership and alliances;
• To identify what ICT solutions are in demand in India and the opportunities on offer; and
• To identify key stakeholders.
Then, Harish Rao, President Australia India Business Council (AIBC)-Vic, will briefly outline some of the cultural challenges of doing business in India, and explain how AIBC can assist.

The presentations will be followed by a Panel Discussion including Ray Nicol, Harish Rao, Ravi Bhatia (CEO Primus Telecom) , and chaired by Don Kordick. The panel will explore how the opportunities indentified in Ray’s talk can be realized by Victorian companies and what specific challenges need to be overcome in an Indian environment. Interaction between the panel and the audience will be encouraged, and the panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session.

Guests are welcome to continue their discussions and questions informally in the networking session to follow the event over drinks and snacks.
