CIO 2.0 – “Power to the People”

The Web 2.0 revolution has seen quite ordinary people, often with no real interest or training in technology, become very tech-savvy. People in sales, accounting, HR and even the mail-room are downloading applications, launching collaboration tools, and undertaking quite sophisticated online research through their Linkedin, Facebook, Bebo, Plurk, Twitter, or personalised Google home pages.

At the same time, software development has moved from massive enterprise-wide platforms to lean and agile applications that have a fast-to-market timeframe, often written for specific, niche business uses.

Enter the CIO 2.0, someone who recognises that technologists no longer only reside within the IT department. Someone who recognises that increasing armies of people within the organisation are working with some really cool apps, not having a clue how they are built, but instinctively knowing how to make them work for specific outcomes.

This event includes networking before and after the lunch. Max Capacity 210 (restricted in 2008 due to venue).
