Guest Speaker: Susan Monkley - Group Manager of the Technology Solutions Group at DEEWR

The Federal & ACT Committee of the AIIA is delighted to have the Group Manager, Technology Solutions Group, at the Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations, Ms Susan Monkley, address the upcoming Canberra Manager's Forum July luncheon.

Following a distinguished 20 year career in the Public Sector across all of the largest service delivery Department's, Susan now heads up the Technology Solutions Group responsible for Architecture, Infrastructure, Applications, Applications Development, IT Procurement and Web Accessibility.

Susan has a strong track record, and interest in, Business Transformation which strategically supports DEEWR's emerging and growing role as a Lead Agency in the provision of various services in a Whole of Government context.

In her address, Susan will touch on all of these topics, provide an update on DEEWR's current plans as well as shed some light on the exciting and challenging future role DEEWR will serve in the Whole of Government space.

Susan will also touch on many of the overall challenges facing Government today including efforts to encourage more women in ICT.

The 2012 iAwards honours both companies at the cutting edge of technology innovation as well as leading professionals across the industry. About Susan
 

Susan Monkley is a Group Manager in the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) –DEEWR plays a critical role in the Government’s efforts to improve Australia’s productivity and enhance the economic and social wellbeing of all Australians.

Susan has been with DEEWR since 2005 and currently leads the Technology Solutions Group (TSG), and her responsibilities include the strategic management of applications and infrastructure, including the applications development and support of Business and Corporate Systems to support DEEWR in the delivery of government policy, the provision of the underlying infrastructure, Architecture, IT Procurement, and Web Accessibility. Susan has a strong focus on business transformation, leadership and strategy, and in delivery of a sustainable IT environment.

TSG also provides support to a number of portfolio and other government agencies including desktop services, application development, application hosting and gateway services. DEEWRs infrastructure supports over 7000 agency users, and in excess of 50,000 external users. Susan responsibilities include implementation, as service provider, of a single whole of government parliamentary workflow solution for agencies.

Susan has more than 20 years public sector experience, including senior executive positions in DEEWR and Centrelink. She has also worked in various roles within the ATO including the Child Support Agency, working with Micro and Small Business on GST implementation, the provision of tax technical advice through to strategy, communications and the development of various electronic support tools to assist business transition to the GST. Susan has also worked as a bankruptcy administrator and fraud investigator.

Susan has a Bachelor of Commerce, a Masters of Tax, and an Executive of Masters of Public Administration.
