Group Pages

AIIA connects Victorian member companies to a network of local contacts, events, information and business opportunities as well as helping Victorian-based member companies to achieve business success and growth.

AIIA’s interests and activities in Victoria are undertaken by our V
ictorian Committee; an elected group of representatives from AIIA member companies who work on a voluntary basis to assist the association and the ICT industry. With almost 200 member companies operating throughout the state, AIIA has a strong presence in Victoria.

AIIA in Victoria

  • Offers access to knowledge, advice, contacts and business opportunities to people in AIIA companies throughout Victoria.
  • Hosts a vibrant events program of CIO briefings, working with government workshops and marketing seminars, as well as a range of other events which provide insight into industry trends and technologies, valuable market intelligence and regular networking opportunities.
  • Presents an annual Government Symposium, which links the ICT industry to Victorian Government ministers, politicians and policy-makers and focuses on how local ICT companies can successfully secure government contracts.
  • Works with the Victorian Government to advocate policies that support the growth of the ICT industry in the state.
  • Supports our local industry through AIIA's national CollabIT initiative.

2012 Key Achievements
  1. Establishment of a Retail SIG and expanded AIIA's scope and brand into the sector via the Australian Retailers Association.
  2. Very active participant in the Education SIG where we have worked with the VET sector (in particular TAFEs) in proposing a ICT Apprenticeship and Higher Education pathways program which we are currently awaiting sign off from Victorian Govt for funding assistance.  This has been a fantastic opportunity for the industry to forge close ties with VET given the recent state government funding cuts to the TAFE sector.
  3. As an adjunct to the Education SIG, we are have successfully re-engaged with Workforce Skills Victoria by being an active participant to encourage secondary school students to undertaken ICT courses at tertiary level.
  4. Forged extremely close relationships with the state government where the current committee is continuing the good work of past committees by further fostering this relationship where we have very much become trusted advisors.
  5. We have representation on the new e-Services Registry working and now implementation groups where we are influencing how the new eServices Panel will transition to the registry.
  6. We have implemented a number of new membership initiatives to encourage additional growth of our state member base.
  7. Successfully hosted over 12 events ranging from business and government forums through to our revamped CollabIT and Exporter events.

Key Objectives for 2013

  1. Further evolve the Retail SIG to enhance our presence into the sector directly and by opening up business opportunities for AIIA members.
  2. Implement a pilot of the ICT apprenticeships and pathways program by 1 July 2013 in partnership with the TAFEs.
  3. Running a series of information workshops to further assist AIIA members in successfully winning business in state government.
  4. Active participation into implementing the new eServices Register for state government's procurement of ICT services.
  5. Accelerate our new membership programs by building upon some of the great work that has commened in 2012.
  6. Run monthly facilitated networking breakfasts as part of our CollabIT program.
