agreement strengthens industry voice
For immediate release:

2012
The Australian Information Industry Association and the
Queensland.NET community recently signed an agreement through which .NET
members have been offered special rates to join the national industry
association.
"This is a fantastic development for the local industry
that will strengthen the voice of the ICT industry in Queensland and provide
small ICT businesses with a wide range of resources available through the AIIA
membership community," said AIIA CEO Suzanne Campbell.
"The .NET community in Queensland brings with it an incredible
wealth of experience that will be invaluable to the programs delivered by
AIIA," Suzanne said.
"Both AIIA and QLD.Net see valuable synergies in joining
forces to offer members greater value," according to Ian Hough, Chair of
the QLD.NET committee.
QLD.Net has been servicing primarily SME members who specialise
in Microsoft products and services for the past five years in Queensland. Their
committee delivered valuable forums to SMEs which exposed them to key market
trends and business development opportunities.
The AIIA membership base is made up of both SMEs and large
organisations alike; the addition of QLD.Net members will continue to enrich
the diversity of the AIIA and strengthen the organisation.
"The technology industry makes an essential contribution to
the Queensland economy. Supporting and expanding this contribution requires a
united industry voice with government and business," said Maree Adshead,
Chair of AIIA Queensland.
"The contribution of small and medium business is an
essential to delivering the right outcomes for our industry. I am delighted
that we have to opportunity learn from the .NET community, consolidate industry
perspectives and further develop the technology sector in Queensland.
"QLD.Net will be able to directly influence the make-up and
activities of this program for the 2012 year so that it meets the needs of the
expanded joint member base," said Maree.
"Further, a representative of QLD.Net will be invited to
sit on the QLD AIIA committee for the 2012 year to ensure the member transition
is appropriate and continues to meet its member needs."
