An automated and continuous structural health monitoring system
for the Sydney Harbour Bridge has been announced as a winner of one of this
year's prestigious Company/Group category State iAwards.
NICTA and RMS were named winners of the e-Logistics and Supply
Chain category for their Sydney Harbour Bridge Structural Health Monitoring
System during a ceremony at Government House during which the Deputy Premier,
Minister for Trade and Investment, and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and
Service The Hon. Andrew Stoner was guest of honour.
The Structural Health Monitoring System utilises a novel and
innovative approach to address not only the immediate requirement but also to
prepare for the longer-term adoption of ICT enabled civil infrastructure.
The ceremony was attended by The Deputy Premier, Minister for
Trade and Investment, and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Service The
Hon. Andrew Stoner, who presented the keynote address examining the importance
of ICT innovation to the long-term success of NSW.
Following the ceremony, the winners will go on to compete
against the winners of other State and Territory awards for the National
iAwards which will be announced at a gala event in Melbourne on Thursday, 9
August 2012.
Many of the 2012 National iAwards winners will go on to
represent Australia against the best innovators in the Asia-Pacific ICT
industry who come together at the APICTA Awards being held in Brunei.
Jointly presented by the Australian Computer Society (ACS),
Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) and Pearcey Foundation the
iAwards celebrates the industry coming together to celebrate the best within
