An innovative game developed by a group of tertiary students to help
children suffering from cerebral palsy has been recognised with a coveted
iAward during a ceremony where South Australia’s most innovative companies
were honoured.

The Tertiary Student Project Category of the iAwards was won by Flinders
University students Matthew Kuckhahn, Jingyu Liu, Yao Dai, Yongqun Yu and
Yun Chen for the design and development of their "Sunday Driver” innovation.
Sunday Driver is a ‘serious game’ which entertains and engages children with
cerebral palsy who can play it as part of a novel therapy intervention.

This year the nominations in South Australia recorded an unprecedented 40
per cent increase in submissions across the 25 categories in which awards
are presented.

The SA iAward for the Tertiary Student Project was one of seven presented at
a ceremony attended by the State’s top ICT decision-makers and leaders at
which companies at the very cutting edge of the latest in technology
innovation were honoured.

The ceremony featured the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Government
of South Australia, Andrew Mills, as guest of honour.

Significantly, the iAwards is targeted at Australia’s best and honours the
outstanding achievements of our exceptional home-grown innovators who have
made exemplary contributions to the ICT industry over the past 12 months.

Following the presentations, the winners of the State iAwards will go on to
compete against the winners of other State and Territory awards for the
National iAwards which will be announced at a gala event in Melbourne on
Thursday, 9 August 2012.

In addition, many of the 2012 National iAwards winners across all categories
will then represent Australia against the best innovators in the
Asia-Pacific ICT industry who come together at the APICTA Awards to be held
in Brunei.

Jointly presented by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), Australian
Information Industry Association (AIIA) and Pearcey Foundation the iAwards
celebrates the industry coming together to celebrate the best within its
ranks.
