Females in IT & Telecommunications

Females in Information Technology and Telecommunications (FITT) is a network of women who have come together to encourage and support females wanting to reach their full potential in the ICT industry.

If you design IT, build IT, use IT, manage IT, market IT, support IT, or teach IT - you FITT!

All women are welcome to join and membership is free. FITT does not disclose your membership status to anyone outside of the AIIA and FITT steering committee. Email messages will be sent to your nominated email address to notify you of events and other items of interest.

FITT aims to:

  • encourage more women to join the ICT industry. The reason? Currently, only about 20 per cent of IT professionals in Australia are women.
  • encourage women to reach the highest level of their potential in the industry. Just on a quarter of 1 per cent of all ICT professionals earning $100,000 or more per annum are women.
  • help all Australian women in every walk of life to better understand ICT, and how it affects their everyday lives. FITT thinks that if women have a better understanding of technology, they will not be intimidated by it.

FITT networking and information events

Several times each year, FITT hosts events featuring women who have made special contributions to the ICT industry. The aim is to recognise the many achievements women make, as well as to increase their exposure. FITT also runs a number of events aimed at helping members develop their careers through skills programs, workshops and discussion forums.
