AIIA Submission to the Gershon Review
AIIA made a detailed formal submission to the Independent Review of the Australian Government's Use of ICT (also known as the Gershon Review) on Friday 13 June, 2008. This Review has the potential to significantly change the environment in which the ICT industry does business with the Australian Government. AIIA's submission was based on extensive industry consultation and feedback from members to ensure that views representative of all members (including large multinational companies, major Australian organisations, SMEs and startups) were communicated to the Review.
AIIA's submission is underpinned by three main themes:
- the government will gain significant benefit from the consistent application of best practice in the acquisition, implementation, governance and use of ICT
- best practice in all these areas should be developed through consultation with industry
- central coordination of government ICT will deliver benefits in effectiveness, cost reduction project outcomes.
AIIA CEO Ian Birks and members of the AIIA Board of Directors subsequently met with Sir Peter Gershon to provide additional context to the submission.
