For the purposes of these Rules the following definitions are set out:
- The Organiser refers to Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA).
- The Judges refers to those people who are selected by AIIA on the basis of industry expertise.
- You refers to the person submitting the nomination on behalf of the company.
- The Nominee refers to the company submitting the nomination.
- The Sponsors refers to the sponsors of the iAwards program.
- The Award refers to the award that a Nominee may receive after the judging is completed.
- The Recipients refers to the winners of the iAwards
1. The Rules
1.1 The Rules are binding on all nominees, finalists and winners of the iAwards. The Organiser of the iAwards will take reasonable measures to ensure that other third parties such has suppliers and contractors and Judges comply with the Rules.
1.2 Instructions on how to enter and the Award criteria form part of these Rules of entry.
2. Agreement to the Rules
By submitting a nomination form, you warrant to AIIA that You have:
- the full power and lawful authority to submit a nomination form on behalf of the Nominee and;
- to perform or cause to be performed its obligations under the rules of entry and;
- to the best of your knowledge and belief the information provided is true and correct.
Regarding breach of warranty as set out in (2) you indemnify the Organiser if it suffers loss as a result of a breach of one or more of these warranties. The Organiser reserves the right to revoke an Award if the Nominee is in breach of this warranty and award the Award to another Nominee.
3. Eligibility to Nominate
The iAwards are open to companies and organisations registered and operating in Australia (Australian Business Number required).
4. Additional Information for Nominations
Nominees may be requested by the Judges to provide additional information.
Nominees agree to make reasonable efforts to provide Judges with adequate additional information.
5. Confidentiality of Material
5.1 Staff or agents of the Organiser and the Judging Panel will handle nominations. With the exception of marketing material, nominations will be treated as commercial-in-confidence. Information provided by Nominees will not be released without your prior permission.
5.2 Upon receipt by the Organiser, all nominations and supporting material become and remain the property of the Organiser. Nominees, however, retain ownership of any intellectual property in the nomination and supporting material.
6. Award Deadlines
The Award deadlines will be determined to have been met only where:
- the registration fee has been received by the Organiser; and
- the relevant nomination is in the hands of the iAwards Organisers or their appointed representatives at or before the time and date specified in the Awards program.
Proof of dispatch will not be accepted as proof of delivery or receipt.
7. Judging Process
7.1 The Organiser reserves the right not to consider any nomination if it does not sufficiently meet the Award criteria. They also reserve the right, at their discretion, to cancel or change the Award program if they reasonably determine that the integrity of the iAwards is or has been compromised.
7.2 Chance plays no part in determining the winners and finalists of the iAwards.
7.3 All decisions and recommendations made by the Organiser, their representatives and the Judges shall be binding and final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
7.4 The judging of nominations is an independent process. The intended judging process has been set out by the Organisers, but may be varied at the Organisers' discretion and should not be considered binding on the Organisers.
7.5 Judges are bound by the assessment criteria for the Awards.
7.6 The Organisers reserve the right, at the Judges' recommendation, to not present any Award in a particular category or to award tied winning nominations.
7.7 Winners and finalists are selected on the basis of merit. However, the Organiser or the Australian Financial Review do not generally endorse these organisations or their activities.
8. Declaration of Interests
Judges are required to declare any interest in nominations over which they deliberate and to disqualify themselves from deliberations and considerations of those nominations.
9. Award Ceremony
Winners should use their best endeavours to attend or be represented at the Award ceremony. Attendance by the finalists at the presentation ceremony is encouraged.
10. Limits on Organisers' and Sponsors' Responsibilities and Liabilities
10.1 The Organisers and Sponsors will use their best endeavours to ensure that the Awards are conducted in a manner which does not adversely affect the reputation of any Nominee or participant.
10.2 Nominees enter the Awards at their own risk and the Organiser will not be liable for any loss, damage or expense incurred by the Nominee as a result of entering a nomination into the Awards.
11. Promotion of Nominations
Nominees agree to do all things reasonable to participate and/or cooperate with any promotional or media activities conducted by the Organisers and Sponsors in relation to the iAwards.
12. No Relationship
No contractual or other legal relationship shall arise between the members of the Judging panels, the Organiser, the Australian Financial Review, Sponsors and any organisation nominating for the Awards.
13. Awards to be Contested
Three finalists and one winner will be chosen for each of the following Awards subject to clause 7.6 (refer to section 8.3):

- Inspiration Award, for the best ICT product or service
- ICT Exporter of the Year
- Community Award, for innovation in corporate social responsibility
- Start-up Award
- Applications and Infrastructure Tools
- Communications Applications
- e-Government and Services
- e-Logistics Applications
- Education and Training
- eHealth
- Financial Applications
- General Applications
- Industrial Applications
- Media and Entertainment
- Research and Development
- Secondary Student Project
- Security Applications
- Tertiary Student Project
- Tourism, Hospitality, Sport and Leisure
14. Recipient Benefits
The following benefits will be offered to Recipients of the iAwards:
- An iAwards trophy, which is theirs to keep
- Acknowledgement in congratulatory advertisement in the Australian Financial Review
- Opportunity to participate in speaking engagements at future AIIA events
- Opportunity to participate in iAwards judging in following years
- The right to use iAward winner logo on company publicity materials
- The opportunity to attend the Asia-Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA).
