NSW Healthcare Special Interest Group

Australia’s healthcare sector provides key commercial opportunities to AIIA’s member companies. This ICT marketplace:

  • is expected to show long-term sustained growth of 11–13% per year
  • has large numbers of ICT buyers in the public and private healthcare sectors
  • has buyers in healthcare which are now seeking the improved efficiencies bought by ICT systems and systems integration
  • has buyers who are facing increasing customer demand for better and more responsive services
  • has legacy and poorly-connected systems which require replacement, and
  • is supported by federal and state government initiatives such as HealthConnect and MediConnect.


To focus on this sector, AIIA's NSW Healthcare Special Interest Group (SIG) has been established to assist members with:

  • identify who are the buyers and buying groups in this sector
  • understand healthcare buyers’ buying strategies (particularly useful for smaller companies which have limited capacity to research this marketplace)
  • connect with business opportunities, developments and contacts
  • develop opportunities for early engagement with healthcare organisations
  • promote their capabilities in ICT solutions and services to healthcare buyers, and
  • create a shared forum for ICT organisations with a healthcare focus.


People from industry participating in our Healthcare SIG are senior ICT executives, healthcare account managers, commercial and government account and sales leaders and managers, healthcare business development managers, healthcare business analysts, and consultants. The networking value of these groups is high.


Our SIG meetings typically cover sector developments:

  • business issues
  • drivers and constraints
  • buyer identification
  • sector research.


Meetings are held monthly, usually the last Tuesday, from 0830–0930 in Sydney.

AIIA Healthcare Business Briefings

This SIG also runs our Healthcare Business Briefing events, identifying topics of commercial interest and identifying speakers to offer helpful insights into their plans, their buying models, and their preferences in dealing with ICT vendors.
