AIIA's comprehensive Survey of Salaries and Remuneration Packaging in the Australian ICT Industry is the ICT industry’s most trusted source of up-to-date salary information.  AIIA's Salary Survey:

What the Salary Survey provides subscribers

Subscribers to the Survey receive accurate, timely information on market rates, salary packaging and salary reviews. In particular, the survey encompasses:

  • general industry and employment trends for salary and benefits movements within the industry
  • special salary and remuneration surveys covering areas such as staff turnover, vehicle allowances, sales commissions and specific benefit packages
  • updates on changes to specific job roles and job classes
  • historical industry trends of annual percentage increases in salary structures.


The Salary Survey is a vital tool for employers in the ICT industry, and AIIA member companies use it to develop their recruitment and remuneration strategies. It assists AIIA members to balance the dual goals of rewarding employees while achieving strategic business targets. Unlike other surveys, which may monitor print or Internet job advertisements, AIIA’s Salary Survey captures information on new, existing and departing employees across the breadth of the ICT industry.

The next Salary Survey is due for release on August 11, 2008. AIIA Members who have subscribed, contributed data and who's membership is up to date will be sent the latest report from Hewitt CSI. For new members please please contact AIIA to arrange your subscription and the report will be sent out within 24hours of payment.

The March 2008 Survey of Salaries and Remuneration Packaging for the ICT Industry, demonstrated a modest fall in the total ICT remuneration cost over the past 12 months. The current same incumbent movement figure of 5.5 per cent (at Total Remuneration Cost) has fallen from 5.8 per cent in August 2007 and 5.9 per cent in March 2007, a revealing trend in an environment in which ICT skills are at a premium. >> More

The salary market movement data published in the Salary Survey is an industry-recognised source of credible and independent remuneration information and is only available to AIIA member companies that provide ICT goods and services. It is not suitable for HR firms or those who provide contracting services as it is based on the vendor side of the market.

AIIA member companies who subscribe to the survey use it in their internal HR management and only one contact per member organisation is provided with the survey results. It is these specific parameters that ensure the data integrity and validity of the survey.

As a subscriber to the AIIA ICT Salary and Remuneration Packaging Survey your organisation agrees to contribute data to a minimum of one (1) survey per subscription period. Only AIIA Members who meet the criteria to match the job roles and can contribute meangful data to compare their internal roles to industry benchmarks can subscribe. .

AIIA Remunerations Committee

The Remunerations Committee of the AIIA provide industry feedback to ensure the survey is reflecting the needs of the industry. The Committee meets four times a year to discuss the survey results and review the scope for the upcoming survey. Members include representatives of AIIA, Hewitt CSI and the following AIIA member companies:

Remuneration Forum invitation for participants only

Participants also have the opportunity to attend the Remuneration Forum which are held in March and August in Sydney and Melbourne. These feedback sessions discuss the report and industry trends with AIIA’s Remunerations Committee and other survey subscribers.

Match your job roles

We recommend you review the job roles online to see if they match on name level first. There are over 200 roles included in the survey and can be viewed on the Hewitt CSi website. If after reviewing you would like to participate in the survey please contact us. The Hewitt CSi team will be in contact with you to determine that your roles do match and that your organisation can provide a relevant contribution to the survey to make it worth your while.

Abridged Salary Survey for SMEs

Member companies who do not have a large range of IT roles can participate in the salary survey by contributing to a select number of roles. In order to meet a need of members who do not require the full survey with more than 200 roles, a special survey designed specifically for companies in the ICT industry you can select and purchase six remuneration tables with corresponding position descriptions from the comprehensive survey. Your organisation must provide remuneration data for their 6 chosen positions within a cycle.

What does it cost?


An annual subscription costs $3,0000 (plus GST) for the 2008/09 financial year, and includes two surveys (August and March). SME costs are also available for the abridged survey.
