John is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has been awarded a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellowship for community service.

John has been a Mentor for the AIIA's Entrepreneurs' program, is a past member of the Western Australian State Government's Information and Communications Policy Advisory Council (ICPAC) and a past member of the Western Australian Trades Advisory Council.

John has been a Director on the National Board of the AIIA for 9 years and has held the position of National Treasurer for the past 8 years. John has also been involved with the AIIA, at a state level in Western Australia for the last 19 years. He has been State Convenor in WA for a 2 year period and has been part of the WA executive committee for the past 17 years.

Reasons for nominating and qualities brought to the board:

Brookstone Technologies is a small business that markets its multi-award winning VirtualOffice solution to organisations both within Australia and Internationally. As such, I feel I can continue to successfully represent the needs and requirements of similar small business members, the knowledge of which can only come from someone who is intimately immersed in our business environment.

I feel that it is vitally important for the AIIA that not only do the smaller states continue to be well represented on the Board, but that our association always has access to the dynamics and vibrancy that is small business.

The AIIA is moving forward with significant changes in structure and focus and I feel that as a continuing board member with a strong history of support of our industry both at a State and National level, I can continue to make a difference.
