Warren Prentice
CTO, eHealth Queensland

Warren Prentice commenced his career in the information technology profession in the early 1990s where he served in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) specialising in the large enterprise, distributed computing field.

He has an interesting mix of industry experience including military and government and has held prestigious senior roles in Fortune 100 ICT companies. In the RAAF, he was a key member of the technical team that transitioned the entire Australian Defence Force to the Information Era, constantly testing the capabilities and potential of ICT for defence enhanced communications purposes.

Following his term in Defence he was appointed as the IT Infrastructure Architect for the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). There he was a key leader of transformational initiatives that included close engagement with technical personnel from Microsoft to deliver ICT driven taxation reform programs and major ICT infrastructure uplifts.

Through both his success at the Department of Defence and ATO, Warren was subsequently recruited by Microsoft where he held various technical and leadership roles with within the Public Sector and Commercial business segments.  His employment with Microsoft required him to be deeply involved in leading many digital transformation initiatives and technical adoption programs on behalf of the company and their customers in Australia, Asia Pacific, Europe and North America.

More recently, Warren has held senior program leadership appointments in Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Defence, Attorney Generals and ACT Government.

Currently Warren is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for eHealth Queensland. The CTO and his Technology Services Branch carries operational responsibility for state wide community, clinical and corporate ICT services provided by the department across an expansive geography of 1.8 million square kilometres and supporting a population of 4.69M people and additional visitors to the State.
