The WA public sector is in the midst of tremendous change, and with that comes opportunity.  In today’s world, to fully realise efficiencies, cost savings and regional growth, the sector needs to leverage opportunities presented by ICT and digital technologies.  To do this, we first need to understand how the sector is performing, what mistakes we have made and where we can do better.  Public sector audit helps to give that clarity.  The Auditor General will look at common pitfalls agencies face when trying to realise Government’s goals.  And he will share opportunities identified through recent audits which agencies should embrace if they are to succeed.

Places are limited, so please book now to secure your seat.  No late bookings will be accepted.

AIIA WA presents Keynote Speaker:

Colin Murphy
Auditor General for Western Australia

Colin Murphy was appointed Auditor General for Western Australia in June 2007.  Colin has extensive experience in finance and administration in state and Commonwealth government roles.  He has held senior positions within the state government in the Departments of Justice, Treasury and Finance, Land Administration and the Building Management Authority.  He has also worked for the Commonwealth Department of Finance in Perth and Washington DC and as Business Manager for Murdoch University.

Colin is a member of the Australian Auditing and Assurance Standards Board.  He is a Fellow, former Board member and past State President of CPA Australia and a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

Colin was awarded the Public Service Medal in the 2010 Australia Day Honours and in 2013 was presented with the WA Institute of Public Administration Patrons Award for significant contribution to the state and public sector.
