The Hon Ed Husic MP
Shadow Minister for the Digital Economy and the Shadow Minister for Human Services
For a long time Ed Husic’s been part of the Federal Opposition’s team developing policies to promote early stage and digital innovation.
He has established a strong interest in Australian tech and digital endeavour and has been vocal about the need to think ahead about the impact of tech on jobs and the ways we can prepare for this.
Last week, for instance he announced partnering with Google and NGO Schools Plus to establish a digital skills learning hub involving seven major schools in his Western Sydney electorate.
Elected in 2010, he’s held a number of positions – from Chair of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the NBN, Parliamentary Secretary to Kevin Rudd and Shadow Parliamentary Secretary to the Shadow Treasurer (advising on startups and digital innovation).
Post the 2016 election, he was promoted to Shadow Employment Services Minister and Shadow Minister for the Digital Economy and Future of Work.
In last August’s reshuffle he became Shadow Minister for Human Services and the Digital Economy.
Ed’s been a lifelong resident of Western Sydney attending local schools and was among the first waves of graduates of Western Sydney Uni.
