The Justice cluster comprises 12 interdependent and interlocking government agencies that deliver legal, law enforcement and emergency services. With a FY1819 budget allocation of $10.2B ($8.8B in capital expenses and $1.4B in recurrent expenses), the AIIA NSW Government SIG is delighted to start off this year’s breakfast briefings with Aaron Liu, CIO, Department of Justice presenting Justice’s ICT priorities for the future. He will be joined by Robert Hilditch, CIO, Fire and Rescue NSW for a Q&A session after the keynote address.

During the session we will explore:

  1. The impact of putting the citizen at the centre of design thinking and the ICT technology landscape dependencies when mapping customer journeys?
  2. The role emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, Virtual and Augmented Reality and Gamification play in supporting Premier’s and State priorities:
    • Premier’s Priority to reduce domestic violence: reduce the proportion of domestic violence offenders reoffending by 25 per cent by 2021;
    • State Priority to reduce violent crime: local government areas to have stable or falling reported violent crime rates by 2019;
    • State Priority to reduce adult reoffending: reduce adult reoffending by 5 per cent by 2019.
  3. Key IT Challenges and Opportunities faced with and how is the Department of Justice and Cluster Agencies working with Industry to facilitate the inevitable digital disruption

How, as leading advocates of ‘As a Service’ models, Department of Justice and Fire + Rescue see the evolution of the GovDC play out with the increase in hybrid cloud models whilst focused on data privacy, security and sovereignty.
