In the next 30 years, SA is the centre of two of the most important Naval Defence projects in Australia’s history – namely the Hunter Frigates (BAE Systems/ASC Shipbuilding) and the Attack Class submarine program (Naval Group) – with a budget that exceeds $80bn.

There has been a major of focus on Australian jobs and business opportunities that these projects will provide, but the publicity and discussion has been skewed towards traditional manufacturing.

However, it is acknowledged that these vessels will be the most technologically advanced vessels of their kind and that presents massive opportunities in advance manufacturing, hardware and software technology as well as ICT.

The AIIA is holding this Summit to raise the awareness in the ICT Community of these massive programs and highlights pathways to take advantage of the opportunities that they will present.
