Blockchain technology has expanded beyond adoption by innovators and first movers to include a growing number of organisations working together to rapidly turn blockchain’s promised value into tangible business results.

In this briefing Rupert Colchester will reflect on how active blockchain networks are bringing real transformative change to supply chains and streamlined transactions to a number of industries including government, financial services, healthcare, retail and agriculture, what the new digital infrastructure and partnerships will look like for Australia, and the opportunities for businesses to build trust into transactions and entire business processes in this time of uncertainty.

Speaker

Rupert Colchester

Head of Blockchain and Practice Leader, IBM Australia and New Zealand

Rupert is the IBM lead for Blockchain in Australia and New Zealand – a practice of consultants, designers, architects and developers working with government and businesses across all industries to drive enterprise transformation using blockchain.

Prior to arriving in Australia 2 years ago, Rupert spent 10 years working for IBM in the UK in both technical and sales roles, before starting IBM’s Blockchain business in the UK. His consulting and technical delivery engagements since have spanned a wide variety of use cases – from proof of concepts through to production implementations. Most recently he has been leading the IBM team working in partnership with four other partners (ANZ Bank, CBA, Scentre Group and Westpac) to create and incorporate Lygon – a blockchain-based platform for guarantees. He has a degree in AI and Computer Science from University of Edinburgh.
