Technology is constantly advancing the way athletes and coaches monitor performance.  Sensors and devices, novel materials and data analytics are used to monitor, protect and enhance on-field-performance.  Similarly, off-field technology is changing the business of sport at all levels very rapidly.  Ranging from participation at grass-roots level to event management at community or elite level, technology can provide value to game and in-stadium experiences as well as media broadcasting.  In addition, applications in recreational sport are linked to fitness and wellness with many governments or health-care providers looking at sporting activity as a form of healthy living.
